ob Title: Manager – AML, Transaction Monitoring Duration: 10 Months – Extendable Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Position Summary: The Manager – AML Transaction Monitoring is responsible for executing a robust Anti-Money Laundering (AML) program, ensuring strict adherence to the bank’s policies and procedures in compliance with the UAE Central Bank's regulatory guidelines. This role ensures effective surveillance, investigation, and reporting of money laundering activities, while leading a team and driving initiatives for continuous improvement in AML monitoring. Key Responsibilities: Transaction Monitoring: • Review AML alerts and investigate customer activities for suspicious behavior. • Complete and file Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) with the Group MLRO. • Place restrictions on non-compliant customer accounts and recommend exits when necessary. • Manage correspondent banking alerts and liaise with financial institution (FI) partners. Policy Alignment and Regulatory Compliance: • Align policies and procedures with regulatory changes and guidelines. • Review and amend processes based on periodic circulars from the Central Bank. • Handle UAE Central Bank audits and provide process walkthroughs. Collaboration and Training: • Actively work with business units to ensure AML queries are managed effectively without compromising client experience. • Provide training to onshore and offshore teams and offer guidance on AML-related matters globally. Technical and Automation Initiatives: • Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization, including AI, machine learning (ML), and robotic process automation (RPA) projects. • Collaborate with technology teams to evaluate the effectiveness of monitoring tools and screening systems. • Propose system enhancements to improve efficiency and reduce false positives. People Management: • Define and manage training frameworks and performance objectives for AML teams. • Conduct performance reviews, team development activities, and succession planning. • Foster a culture of accountability, adherence to organizational values, and continuous improvement. Financial Management: • Manage a BAU budget of approximately AED 10 million while ensuring cost-effective operations. Risk Management and Control: • Monitor and test controls to align with the bank’s risk appetite. • Ensure compliance with internal and external policies related to sanctions, PEPs, and adverse media. Reporting and Communication: • Oversee the delivery of Management Information (MI) reports and ensure timely submission to stakeholders. • Provide input for compliance systems projects and maintain robust documentation. Qualifications & Experience: Educational Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Management, Banking, Finance, or a related field. • Certification in AML, compliance, or financial crime (e.g., ACAMS). Experience: • 12-15 years of banking experience, with at least 5 years in AML or compliance roles. • Proven track record in managing large teams and operations across multiple locations. Technical Skills: • Strong knowledge of sanctions, AML/CTF regulations, and global compliance frameworks. • Proficiency in control testing tools, regulatory compliance, and process optimization. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
